Hello, beautiful people from across the lands! What hopeful person doesn’t want to travel? I have only been out of the county twice. One trip was to Canada during a 6th-grade trip (back when no passport was needed). My second trip was on my 27th birthday to Freeport Bahamas on a cruise. First, let’s look at the gap in time between those events, shameful! Secondly, my first plane ride was during my junior year of undergrad traveling to Kansas City for a nonprofit convention. I was 21 years old.
Traveling to My Roots
As you can see I am so unexposed to the beautiful world others get to see and experience. One of my big travel dreams is to get an ancestry test done discovering what part of Africa I am from and go visit. The fact I have no knowledge what so ever of my roots and African culture is a void that bothers me. I would love to know where I am from and go there.
In 2020 I will be attending my best friend’s wedding in Jamaica. This will be the first trip I will need a passport for, I am excited! My children and lover man will be joining.
Family Travel
The fact that my kiddos will be traveling outside the county on a plane at ages 8 and 6 speaks volumes to breaking generational oppression. I would love to travel to China, Paris, Thai Land, and a few Caribbean Islands. Proximity does have an impact on one’s views and perspective. With very little exposure to different environments and culture, I feel it is stunting my growth as an individual. With new experiences come new ideas, creation, and inspiration. I hope I can build my financial independence where I can take three months or so just to travel.
Where would you like to travel? Do you feel a lack of exposure to other environments has an impact on your creativity? I would love to see your comments below.
Until next time dream, believe and achieve.
