Hello, beautiful people from across the lands! Today I want to share a free tool I came across listening to Journey to Launch Podcast and that is Experian Boost. I have been using this tool for the past three months now and can testify it works! Having a low credit score can be a barrier to certain financial opportunities. I am still learning the value of a credit score on my journey to membership in the 700 club. Let a sista in already! I am happy to share that with Experian Boost it has inched me closer boosting my score up to 48 points in the last 3 months. What is Experian Boost, you may ask? Well, let’s get right into it!
Experian Boost
Experian Boost is a free tool to help increase consumers credit scores by reporting on-time payments to the credit bureaus. What’s unique about this is that its report on-time payments from your utility and telecom accounts. The best part is that it only reports positive payments! No negative or miss payment accounts are reported. It only reports the good to help boost your score. Talk about a lookout!
Adding My Bills
Adding my bills was fairly easy. It allows you to connect your banking info to the data directly from your payment history. When I did this however it was not able to pull up my utility accounts right away. I manually put in my first two bills. The process was simple and quickly became approved to use toward boosting my score. It later picked up on accounts I didn’t think to add like my daughters small $15 cell phone bill. No bill left behind!
Disputing Made Easy
Experian Boost also offers a tool where you can dispute items on your credit history. I had over 10 missed payments from 2012 still showing on my credit report. After 7 years missed payments should be removed from your credit history. I sent a dispute for every missed payment in their Dispute Center. EVERY SINGLE ONE IS NOW GONE! I also disputed a collection payment that was removed as well, all from the same site. This has definitely impacted my score in a great way. I plan on disputing more items on my credit report. Now not all disputes were approved but having the 10 missed payments removed was very liberating.
